The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen, 2880 Mountain Rd., will host UkeFest Virginia, a celebration of the four string dynamo, Nov. 2-3. The Festival features wall to wall music, from serious concerts to informal jams, workshops, and open mic performances, as well as artisans and vendors; all designed to present the wide range of fun available from this unique and mesmerizing instrument. The Lakeside Rescue 5K, to benefit the Lakeside Volunteer Rescue Squad, will begin at 9 a.m. at 2007 Timberlake Ave. The LVRS provides emergency medical services to the community free of charge. Richmond Road Runners will facilitate the race and timing. There will also be music, various food venues and businesses. Registration is $20 in advance and $25 on race day.
