The Modlin Center for the Arts at the University of Richmond will present Jessica Lang Dance at 7:30 p.m. in the Alice Jepson Theatre. Lang is a graduate of the prestigious Juilliard School and has created more than 75 works for ballet companies such as Joffrey Ballet, Richmond Ballet, Kansas City Ballet and Ailey II. The Junior League of Richmond will hold its 7th annual Touch a Truck from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Richmond International Raceway. Touch a Truck offers children a hands-on opportunity to explore their favorite trucks and professional vehicles and to meet the people who build, protect and serve the community. Featured vehicles include police cars, fire trucks, ambulances, bulldozers, dump trucks and tractor trailers. There will also be snack bars, bounce houses, games, crafts, vendors and more. Join St. Mary’s Hospital in celebrating the soon-to-open Bon Secours Pediatric Emergency Department from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 5801 Bremo Rd. The Glen Allen Ruritan Club, in association with the County of Henrico Division of Recreation and Parks, will host Glen Allen Day from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Meadow Farm Museum/Crump Park, 2880 Mountain Rd. The festivities will kick-off with a parade beginning at the intersection of John Cussons Road and Mountain Road and continuing to Meadow Farm. Internationally recognized artist and Virginia resident P. (Pat) Buckley Moss will speak during a luncheon at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. Moss has been able to overcome a life-long learning disability and achieve incredible success as a renowned artist. The luncheon will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets are $50. Following the luncheon, Moss will be signing books and prints in the Gumenick Family Gallery from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Admission to the signing event is free. Henricus Historical Park will celebrate Publick Days, an annual event which commemorates the establishment of the second successful English settlement in the “New World,” from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, Sept. 15-16. Activities include living history reenactments, weapon demonstrations and skirmishes, craftsmen and blacksmiths, medical demonstrations, children’s activities and crafts, storytelling and more. The Philip Glass Festival at the University of Richmond will open with the film “Glass: A Portrait of Philip in Twelve Parts” at 3 p.m. in the Camp Concert Hall, Booker Hall of Music. To celebrate the 70th birthday of Philip Glass, filmmaker Scott Hicks began an 18-month journey filming Glass as he toured across three continents. Dr. Even Alexander, a New York Times best-selling author who has been featured on Oprah and Dr. Oz, was in town last week to promote his June 27 talk, "Proof of Heaven," at Glen Allen High School.
Alexander (pictured, at right, while Unity of Bon Air church member Harry Simmons interviews him) has written about what he considers to be his journey through the afterlife.

The Innsbrook Rotary Club, which is celebrating its 25th year in 2015, has completed a number of volunteer projects this year and raised thousands of dollars for various organizations through three events.
The club's annual rose sale, benefit for youth live auction and Virginia Fire Games competition, combined with individual and corporate donations, have raised nearly $70,000 – money that the club contributes back to the community.
FeedMore is the beneficiary of the club's 25th anniversary project, which provides refrigerated trailers to be used for the distribution of food throughout Central Virginia. > Read more.
Chef Bryan Voltaggio will host a special three-course dinner event July 21-22 at his Willow Lawn Family Meal restaurant. The menu will consist of his favorite dishes and offer diners the chance to purchase a signed copy of his newly released book, HOME.
