Celebrate the richness of the Philippines at the 7th annual Filipino Festival from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 10 and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 11. Enjoy authentic cuisine, live bands, a special performance by the Latin Ballet of Virginia and Filipino line dancing. There will also be exhibits, health screenings, kiddie games, crafts, jewelry, clothing and more. The first annual Wine & Whiskers dog-friendly event will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Shops at Willow Lawn, 1601 Willow Lawn Dr. (Note: This is a change. The event on Aug. 10 was postponed due to weather) The event includes wine tastings from local vineyards including Lake Anna Winery, Cooper Vineyards, First Colony Winery and Mattaponi Winery. Henricus Historical Park will commemorate the 400th anniversary of the adoption of the Virginia Colony’s first legal system from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Laws Divine, Moral and Martial were enforced by Sir Thomas Dale beginning in 1612. Living historians will explore the elements of these laws and visitors will be able to participate in court proceedings and examine colonial and Virginia Indian codes of conduct and punishments.
