Join the County of Henrico Division of Recreation and Parks for an evening of Water Safety Fun from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Osborne Park, 9530 Osborne Tnpk. Watch live demonstrations by Henrico County Division of Fire’s Search, Rescue and Dive Team, and the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Children can enjoy a water fun area, games and educational exhibits. Crossroads Art Center, 2016 Staples Mill Rd., will hold its July Open House and Artist Reception from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitors will learn from the artists what inspires them to create their works of art as they stroll through the 20,000-square-foot facility. Featured artists include Irene J. Perry and artists participating in the Adele Castillo and Friends Show as well as local artists in the show “Celebrate India,” the Yearly Members Show and July’s All Media Show. The Children's Clothing Closet at Highland Springs United Methodist Church will be open Saturday, Aug. 27 and Tuesday, Aug. 30 to provide free new or nearly new children's clothing for families in need, prior to the start of the school year. It’s a great weekend to get outside! The Pocahontas Chapter of the Virginia Native Plant Society is offering two events this weekend. Accompany the group to find and document native plants present and blooming in Echo Lake Park on Saturday or take a “Sunday Stroll” at Dorey Park to observe the seasonal changes taking place. Other outdoor events this weekend include the final summer concert at West Broad Village and “Fridays on the Patio” at James River Cellars Winery in Glen Allen.
