Explore the mystery of pre-historic life at Discover the Dinosaurs, a unique hands-on exhibit of over 60 museum quality and animatronic dinosaurs, June 6-8 at Richmond International Raceway, 600 E. Laburnum Ave. Discover the Dinosaurs features walk-through exhibits with scenes that engage visitors with sight, sound, motion, lighting, animatronics and fog, as well as dinosaurs that come to life with sound and movement controlled by guests. Admission also includes entrance to the dino dig, dino den, dino theater, dino coloring station and scavenger hunt. Other attractions require separate tickets. Meet Sister Anita Maroun, L’Arche USA regional director, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, 4491 Springfield Rd. New Genesis – New Beginnings, in conjunction with Amen 820, will host a youth rally and day of prayer and praise from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fairfield Commons Mall, 4869 Nine Mile Rd. Speakers include Dr. Cavell Phillips of Amen 820, Minister Pierre Whitlow, George Bozeman and Oliver Wallmon. Every Sunday the Eastern Henrico Recreation Center will be open from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for family fun time with kids of all ages. The gym will be split in half with different sports each week on one half and a wide variety of games and activities like ping pong, billiards, air hockey and foosball on the other. Participants will be required to sign a liability waiver provided on site. Admission is free. The program continues through Aug. 19. ‘Proof of Heaven’ coming to Glen Allen


Dr. Even Alexander, a New York Times best-selling author who has been featured on Oprah and Dr. Oz, was in town last week to promote his June 27 talk, "Proof of Heaven," at Glen Allen High School.

Alexander (pictured, at right, while Unity of Bon Air church member Harry Simmons interviews him) has written about what he considers to be his journey through the afterlife.

Tickets to this month's event are $25 and will support the new Bon Secours Hospice House being built later this year. > Read more.

Innsbrook Rotary celebrates 25 years


The Innsbrook Rotary Club, which is celebrating its 25th year in 2015, has completed a number of volunteer projects this year and raised thousands of dollars for various organizations through three events.

The club's annual rose sale, benefit for youth live auction and Virginia Fire Games competition, combined with individual and corporate donations, have raised nearly $70,000 – money that the club contributes back to the community.

FeedMore is the beneficiary of the club's 25th anniversary project, which provides refrigerated trailers to be used for the distribution of food throughout Central Virginia. > Read more.
