The 10th annual Richmond Vegetarian Festival will take place from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Bryan Park, 4300 Hermitage Rd. The outdoor event will showcase over 100 vendors and restaurants, as well as live music, speakers and food demonstrations. Donations to Lamb’s Basket are encouraged. Well-behaved, leashed and vaccinated dogs are welcome. All vegetarians, as well as those just interested in getting healthy are invited. Rain date is June 30. Admission is free. The Scottish Rite Childhood Language Center, a nonprofit speech and hearing clinic for children, will hold its annual spaghetti dinner from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Scottish Rite Temple, 4204 Hermitage Rd. Meal includes spaghetti, fresh salad, bakery bread, homemade desert and choice of beverage. Live music will be provided by country/gospel group Baker Family. Tickets are $7. The Jammin’ on the James Concert Series opens for its fifth year from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wilton House Museum, 215 S. Wilton Rd. CultureWorks will present Cultsha Xpo from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Science Museum of Virginia, 2500 W. Broad St. The annual event highlights the Richmond region’s nonprofit arts and cultural organizations. There will be free performances including musical, visual art, theatrical, historical, dance and more. Families will have the opportunity to learn more about classes, tickets, subscriptions and education programs. Xpo attendees who are registered Cultural Shareholders will be given Cultsha Bucks, fake money that is used as real money at the Xpo to purchase tickets, enroll as members, sign up for classes and make donations. The third annual Jack & Abby 5K and Kids 1 Mile Race will start at 8:15 a.m. at 4222 Cox Rd. in Innsbrook. Proceeds support babies in the Bon Secours Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU). ‘Proof of Heaven’ coming to Glen Allen


Dr. Even Alexander, a New York Times best-selling author who has been featured on Oprah and Dr. Oz, was in town last week to promote his June 27 talk, "Proof of Heaven," at Glen Allen High School.

Alexander (pictured, at right, while Unity of Bon Air church member Harry Simmons interviews him) has written about what he considers to be his journey through the afterlife.

Tickets to this month's event are $25 and will support the new Bon Secours Hospice House being built later this year. > Read more.

Innsbrook Rotary celebrates 25 years


The Innsbrook Rotary Club, which is celebrating its 25th year in 2015, has completed a number of volunteer projects this year and raised thousands of dollars for various organizations through three events.

The club's annual rose sale, benefit for youth live auction and Virginia Fire Games competition, combined with individual and corporate donations, have raised nearly $70,000 – money that the club contributes back to the community.

FeedMore is the beneficiary of the club's 25th anniversary project, which provides refrigerated trailers to be used for the distribution of food throughout Central Virginia. > Read more.
