The Central Virginia Waste Management Authority (CVWMA) will host a special recycling event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Twin Hickory Library, 5001 Twin Hickory Rd. Items accepted include televisions, computers, computer monitors, computer accessories, printers, scanners, copiers, fax machines, telephones and cell phones, VCRs and camcorders, stereos, microwaves and more. Henrico East Rotary will host the 3rd annual Rockin’ the Raceway from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Colonial Downs in New Kent. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) will host its 3rd annual Superhero Run at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Villa, 8000 Brook Rd. The 5K race is open to all ages and participants are encouraged to dress in their favorite superhero costumes. Medals will be awarded to the top finishers and prizes will be given to runners wearing the “most heroic” costumes. A post-race fair with moon bounces, face painting, games and other entertainment will follow. Registration fees are $10 to $30 in advance and $15 to $35 the day of the race. Local families are invited to “Take on Summer” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the annual Healthy Kids Day® and Walk, taking place at four YMCA branches, including Northside and Shady Grove in Henrico. The free community event, in partnership with Bon Secours Richmond Health System, helps families find fun through active play and educational opportunities.
