College improv teams from across Virginia and beyond will gather in Henrico for two nights of competitive improvisational comedy, March 16-17 at ComedySportz Improv Theatre, 8906-H W. Broad St. Eight teams were chosen for the inaugural competition: George Mason University (Mason Improv Association), J. Sargeant Reynolds (The JSR Not-Quite-Ready-For-A-Four-Year-Institution Players), Old Dominion University (DaMinions), University of Maryland-College Park (Erasable Inc.), University of Miami (Miami Boot Squad), University of North Carolina (Improv-A-Nation), University of Richmond (Subject to Change) and Virginia Commonwealth University (Rambling Ramblers). March 16 will feature all of the Elite Eight colleges battling it out over the course of two shows – 8 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. The winners of Friday's matches will move on to the Final Four competition March 17 at 7 p.m. and then the victors of those matches will meet in the championship round immediately following at 9:30 p.m. The champion will walk away with the very first ever Humorous Cup. The work of artists and craftsmen with disabilities from across Virginia will be showcased at the 9th annual Arts & Crafts Show and Sale from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 16 and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 17 at Resources for Independent Living (RIL), 4009 Fitzhugh Ave. Works on display will include paintings, jewelry, pottery, weavings, drawings, woodcarvings, candles and more. The Latin Ballet invites all ages to experience “Le Petite Prince” at 7:30 p.m. March 16-17 and at 3 p.m. March 17-18 at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen, 2880 Mountain Rd. One Voice Chorus will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a performance of “Handel’s Messiah” at 7 p.m. at River Road Church Baptist, 8000 River Rd. The chorus consists of more than 100 singers, a full orchestra and professional soloists. Bill Cooper, vice president for diversity and inclusion at the Federal Bank of Richmond, will give a pre-concert conversation titled “Harmony in Living Black and White” at 6 p.m. Admission is $15 for adults; children 12 and younger are free. The 10th annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration at Capital Ale House in Innsbrook will begin at noon. A new Irish menu for 2012 will be available, as well as over 10 different Irish and Scottish Ales on tap and at least 10 more in the bottle. The celebration will take place in the restaurant and in the Innsbrook Shoppes Courtyard within a 3,500 square feet heated tent. Dr. Even Alexander, a New York Times best-selling author who has been featured on Oprah and Dr. Oz, was in town last week to promote his June 27 talk, "Proof of Heaven," at Glen Allen High School.
Alexander (pictured, at right, while Unity of Bon Air church member Harry Simmons interviews him) has written about what he considers to be his journey through the afterlife.

The Innsbrook Rotary Club, which is celebrating its 25th year in 2015, has completed a number of volunteer projects this year and raised thousands of dollars for various organizations through three events.
The club's annual rose sale, benefit for youth live auction and Virginia Fire Games competition, combined with individual and corporate donations, have raised nearly $70,000 – money that the club contributes back to the community.
FeedMore is the beneficiary of the club's 25th anniversary project, which provides refrigerated trailers to be used for the distribution of food throughout Central Virginia. > Read more.
Chef Bryan Voltaggio will host a special three-course dinner event July 21-22 at his Willow Lawn Family Meal restaurant. The menu will consist of his favorite dishes and offer diners the chance to purchase a signed copy of his newly released book, HOME.
