Howl with laughter as two zany guys play two crazy girls in the comedy “The Queen of Bingo” at 7 p.m. March 9-10 at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen, 2880 Mountain Rd. Join "Sis and Babe" as they explore the worlds of Bingo, family ties, diet crazes, widowhood, hot flashes and winning. The audience joins in the fun during the "Middle Bird Special" - a real Bingo game where one lucky audience member wins a free 10 pound frozen turkey. The second annual Free to Breathe® 5K Run/Walk will take place in the Innsbrook Corporate Center, 4900 Cox Rd. All proceeds help support the National Lung Cancer Partnership’s vital research, education and awareness programs. Mail-in registration ends March 5 and online registration closes March 7. Registration fees are $10 to $35. Registration the day of the event begins at 7 a.m. and the Kids’ Fun Run starts at 9 a.m. The one mile memorial walk will then begin at 9:10 a.m. and the 5K Run/Walk at 9:20 a.m. For details, visit http://www.freetobreathe.org .

Join the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Virginia for the Walk For Wishes 5K at Dorey Park, 2999 Darbytown Rd., beginning at 9 a.m. Both runners and walkers are welcome and children are invited to participate in the one mile Kids’ Fun Run. There will be family-friendly entertainment throughout the day. Funds benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation and their mission to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. The 2nd annual HOPE 5K and Endorphin Fitness Kids’ Mile will be held at Hope Church, 12445 Patterson Ave., where registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. The run will start at 8:30 a.m. at the West Creek entrance. The Kids’ Fun Run and family activities will follow at Hope Church. Registration is $10 to $45. Child care is provided for all registrants. Innsbrook’s St. Patty’s Palooza will take place from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the SnagAJob Pavilion, 4951 Lake Brook Dr. Old and young, male and female will sit side-by-side and face the clippers as part of the worldwide effort “Shaving the Way to Conquer Kids’ Cancer,” an event benefiting the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. 19th Annual Asian American Celebration planned May 21

The Asian American Society of Central Virginia will hold its 19th Annual Asian American Celebration on Saturday, May 21 at the Greater Richmond Convention Center, 403 N. 3rd St. in Richmond, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is free.

The theme for this year’s celebration will be “Our Heritage," in recognition of May as the Asian Pacific American Heritage month, designated by the U.S. Congress in 1992. > Read more.

Sandston Founders Club honors Sydnor


The Founders Club of Sandston presented lifetime membership to Charles W. Sydnor at its 12th annual meeting last month.

Sydnor, who grew up in Sandston and later served as president of Emory and Henry College for eight years, was honored by Founder Club President Alice Taylor Baldwin at the April 23 event at Sandston Memorial Recreation Center. > Read more.

From Legos to wine tasting, The Cultural Arts Center is hosting a variety of classes this summer for both kids and adults.
