Unity of Richmond and Karen Morris will present a community screening of “Miss Representation” at 7:30 p.m. at 800 Blanton Ave. “Miss Representation” exposes how mainstream media contribute to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America. The film challenges the media's limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls, which make it difficult for women to achieve leadership positions and for the average woman to feel powerful herself. It includes stories from teenage girls and interviews with politicians, journalists, entertainers, activists and academics such as Condoleeza Rice, Nancy Pelosi, Katie Couric, Rachel Maddow, Rosario Dawson, Gloria Steinem and more. Barksdale’s “Bifocals Players” will present a staged reading of “A Mistaken Identity” at 1 p.m. at Barksdale Theatre at Willow Lawn. The 13th annual Virginia Dance Festival, to benefit the Children’s Hospital Foundation, will be held at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. at James River High School.
