Barksdale Theatre will present “Always…Patsy Cline” through April 29 at Hanover Tavern, 13181 Hanover Courthouse Rd. The show is a tribute to legendary country singer Patsy Cline who died at age 30 in a plane crash in 1963. It includes many of Cline’s hits such as “Crazy,” “I Fall to Pieces,” “Sweet Dreams” and “Walking After Midnight.” The show is part of the 2012 Acts of Faith Festival. A river-themed indoor art walk titled “Winter to Spring” will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Crossroads Art Center, 2016 Staples Mill Rd. The exhibit displays original art by James River Art League members including oils, acrylics, pastels, watercolors and mixed media. River-related art will be offered for sale and members of the Friends of the James River Park will be available with information about FOJRP. Admission is free. St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 12291 River Rd., will present “To Whom It May Concern” at 7 p.m. Jan. 20-21 and at 2 p.m. Jan. 22. Visitors to Henricus Historical Park, 251 Henricus Park Rd., are invited to participate in the Battle of Trent’s Reach Civil War Tour aboard the “Discovery Barge II,” a covered 24-pontoon boat captained by Mike Ostrander of Discover the James. Tours will take place at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. The excursion will feature local wildlife and 17th-century through modern day history at Henricus and Dutch Gap. HandsOn Day set for Oct. 17

HandsOn Day 2015, which will feature 1200 volunteers serving more than 65 nonprofits in Greater Richmond, will take place Oct. 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Among the projects in Henrico or surrounding communities that need volunteers are: installing GardenFest lights Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, distribution center assistance at Feedmore, pumpkin carving with residents at SupportOne, work and play at Housing Families First, paint for independence at Heart Havens, spruce up the shelter and clean sweep at Harbor House at Safe Harbor, pinwheel project at REAP and Kidney Walk prep at National Kidney Foundation Serving VA. > Read more.

Online tool helps identify best native plants for pollinators

Virginians who want to plant beneficial plants for bees, butterflies and hummingbirds have a new resource at their fingertips. The online Virginia Native Plant Finder now lets users search for native plant species that benefit pollinators. The tool, which is managed by the Virginia Natural Heritage Program, is free and easy to use; searches can be completed on desktops, tablets or smartphones.

Native plants are those that grow where they evolved; they have traits that enable them to adapt to local conditions. The Virginia Native Plant Finder lets users create their own custom native plant lists by selecting from dropdown menus. > Read more.
