Henricus Historical Park will recognize Medal of Honor recipient 2nd Lt. Walter Thorn, 116th United States Colored Troops, for his heroic efforts in the Battle of Trent’s Reach in January 1865. Featured activities include living history demonstrations of the daily lives of soldiers and women who supported the sick and wounded; an exhibition highlighting Civil War artifacts found at Henricus; one-hour lectures beginning at 11 a.m.; tours and more. All Henrico parents and students looking for financial aid help are encouraged to attend an information session facilitated by GRASP (Great Aspirations Scholarship Program). Workers from GRASP will help parents and students completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Participants must bring paperwork with them including social security cards, drivers licenses, W-2 forms, income tax returns, current bank statements and mortgage information. The 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. session will be held at the Richmond Public Main Library, 101 E.
