Volunteers needed for annual James River Parade of Lights

The James River Advisory Council is seeking volunteers who own power boats for its 19th annual James River Parade of Lights, scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 10.

Boaters decorate their craft with lights and cruise the James as spectators watch from numerous viewing sites between Richmond, Chesterfield and Henrico Counties. The parade will start around 6 p.m. with a grand illumination before cruising downriver.

Trailerable boats and larger vessels are encouraged to participate. Because boaters are the ones putting on the show, the James River Advisory Council will hold an after-parade party especially for them. Prizes will be awarded in several categories including boater-chosen theme, originality, appearance and charm.

For information on how to participate, call Kimberly Conley at 748-1567, Dave Goode at 751-4947 or visit http://www.jrac-va.org
