The Tuckahoe Family YMCA recently received a $7,000 donation from the Tuckahoe Kiwanis Club. The money was raised during the group’s eighth annual golf tournament and will help the Y continue its programs for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The donation is the organization’s way of giving back to the community it serves, Kiwanis Club of Tuckahoe Tournament Director Bland Weaver said. “We think the Y does a great job for the youth of the area as well as all age groups. We’ve been supporting them for a long time and we hope to continue to do so,” Weaver said. Tuckahoe Family YMCA Group Vice President Mary Gentry Roberts received the money on behalf of the Y and said the donation would help support the Y’s mission of creating programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. “We couldn’t continue to do what we do without organizations like Kiwanis," she said. "This money will help us continue our promise to the community so that we will not turn anyone away for inability to pay so this will go to our financial assistance program at the Tuckahoe Family YMCA." |
