Salvation Army’s Christmas Center opens at VCC Dec. 13

On Tuesday, Dec. 13, the Salvation Army of Central Virginia will begin the distribution of toys, clothing, coats, bikes, books and other items to those in need this holiday season. The Salvation Army’s Christmas Center is located at Virginia Center Commons in the former Dillard’s, 10101 Brook Rd.

More than 10,000 children will be served this year through one or more of the Salvation Army’s Christmas Assistance Programs: the Salvation Army/NBC 12 Army Angel Tree, the Richmond Times-Dispatch Christmas Mother Fund, FOX Holiday Socks, Puritan Cleaners Coats for Kids and the ESPN Radio 950 Holiday Cheer & Gear program.

The Salvation Army’s Christmas Assistance Programs also include Silver Bells, a program designed to assist Central Virginia’s seniors and/or special needs individuals.

A ceremonial ribbon cutting will take place at 8:30 a.m. to mark the Christmas Center’s grand opening.
