Raise money for kids with cancer at ASK Fun Walk & 5K

The ASK Fun Walk & 5K will be held on Saturday, April 28 at Short Pump Town Center. All money raised will support local children and their families battling cancer with assistance, support and kindness through the ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation.

Registration will begin at 6:30 a.m. The 5K Run will start at 8 a.m. with the Family Fun Walk following at 8:05 a.m. Family-friendly activities will take place throughout the morning including live music from The Jangling Reinharts, games, children’s activities and awards. Race winners will be recognized, as well as top fundraisers. All ASK kids (current patients and survivors) will participate in the Kourageous Kids Victory Lap.

Since 2004, the ASK Fun Walk & 5K event has raised over $530,000 to support ASK’s programs. For more information and to register, visit http://www.askwalk.org.

Reynolds CC to host sculptor Paul DiPasquale


Reynolds Community College will host Richmond sculptor Paul DiPasquale Sept. 28 as he shares his presentation “Art Talk, Why Art Matters” from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Conference Center Gallery of the Workforce Development and Conference Center on the Parham Road Campus, located at 1651 E. Free children’s clothing for those in need

The Children's Clothing Closet at Highland Springs United Methodist Church will be open Saturday, Aug. 27 and Tuesday, Aug. 30 to provide free new or nearly new children's clothing for families in need, prior to the start of the school year. The Clothing Closet will be open from 10 a.m. to noon both days. The church is located at 22 North Holly Avenue. > Read more.

First Things First of Greater Richmond will host its first marquee fundraising event at Richmond International Raceway’s Torque Club from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Father Figure event, presented by 37th Parallel Properties and NBC12 News, will promote the organization's mission to encourage fathers to be active in the lives of their children, raise funds to support its fatherhood initiatives and honor dads making a difference in their families and the Richmond community.
