Mountain Road Corridor Holiday Celebration planned for Dec. 3

Henrico Division of Recreation and Parks will host the Mountain Road Corridor Holiday Celebration from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. beginning at the Courtney Road Service Station, 3401 Mountain Rd. The station, built around 1925, will be open for tours until 2 p.m.
Walkerton Tavern, 2892 Mountain Rd., will have an open house from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. There will be tours, music, dancing and refreshments. The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen, 2880 Mountain Rd., will light its 60-foot cedar tree, strung with a thousand lights, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. The event will also feature holiday carols, free hot chocolate and cookies along with a special visit from Santa. The day will conclude at Meadow Farm Museum, 3400 Mountain Rd. Celebrate Christmas as they did in 1860 and enjoy guided lantern tours from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. All events are free. Henrico Junior 4-H camp registration open

For parents looking to keep their kids outside and away from the video games this summer, the Virginia Cooperative Extension is still accepting registrations for the 2013 Henrico Junior 4-H Camp.
The camp will be held June 17-23, and is open to boys and girls ages 9-13. A total of 10 spaces for boys and 27 spaces for girls remain available, and registration is open until May 24. The cost is $230, which includes lodging, meals, programs, instructional materials and charter bus transportation. > Read more.

Veteran restaurateur set to open in Short Pump
Tran’s Pho 1 Grill will serve Vietnamese fare

Paul Tran, along with his wife Ellen will open up Pho 1 Grill, a Vietnamese restaurant, in June in the Towne Center West Shopping Center.
Tran has been serving up Vietnamese food since the mid-’80s, his first being Que Huong on Rigsby Road. He also owned Mr. Chan’s on Horsepen Road and Saigon Gourmet on Hull Street Road. > Read more.
