Citizen Staff Reports 01/12/12
The Godwin High School PTSA will present "More than a GPA," a program about the effort to redefine success for today's students and to make the case for character and integrity as important measures of one's potential, on Jan. 18 at 7 p.m. at GHS.
Four speakers -- all featured in the book "A Better Man – True American Heroes Speak to young Men on Love, Power, Pride and What It Really Means to Be a Man" -- will address the topic: Adam Cristman, GHS graduate and current professional MLS player for the Los Angeles Galaxy; Paul Galanti, former Vietnam POW who spent seven years in captivity at the infamous “Hanoi Hilton”; Tim Seibles, former college football player turned award-winning author, poet and professor; Leighton W. Smith, Jr., four-star U.S. Navy Admiral, former Commander-in-Chief U.S. Naval Forces Europe. The program will be followed by a book signing. Books are available at ABetterManbook.com at a discounted rate; a limited number of books will be available on the night of the event. $10 per book sold will go directly to Godwin High School. |
