Miss Henrico, Mrs. Henrico pageants open

Applications are now being accepted for the titles of 2012 “Miss Henrico County” and “Mrs. Henrico County.” “Miss” and “Mrs.” will have the honor of representing her area at the Miss Virginia International Pageant, to be held Oct. 7-8 at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen.

Applicants for Miss Henrico County must be between the ages of 19-29. The woman crowned Miss Virginia International will receive a prize package valued at over $5,000 and will compete in the Miss International Pageant in Chicago, Ill. Applicants for Mrs. Henrico County must be married and between the ages of 21-56. The woman crowned Mrs. Virginia International will receive a prize package valued at over $10,000 and will also compete in the international pageant in Chicago.

The American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign is the official charity of the Miss and Mrs. Virginia International Pageant. All contestants will compete in interview, fun fashion, fitness wear and evening gown categories. There is no talent or swimsuit competition and no experience is necessary.

Popular Short Pump spot offers upscale comfort, flavors
The Wine Loft opened in West Broad Village in January 2010, offering a full bar with wine, beer, spirits and a kitchen with tapas-style snacks. It offers a seasonal patio area along Whittall Way. Its walk-in wine “humidor” in plain view from the bar offers more than 85 wines by the glass ($6-$65) and about 250 by the bottle ($28 and up), with some emphasis on Italian wines.
