John Hutcheson, Jr., son of Rossie and Randy Hutcheson; Graham Jones, son of The Rev. and Mrs. Gary D. Jones; and Warren Snead, III, son of Brenda and Warren L. Snead, Jr., of Richmond, were recently inducted into the Order of Gownsmen at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn. The Order of the Gowsnmen is a unique student government body among U.S. colleges and universities. Since 1875 the Order of Gownsmen has remained the body responsible for maintaining the spirit, traditions, and ideals of the University of the South. The wearing of the gown is both a sign of academic achievement and a promise to continue the ideals and traditions of the university.

Megan Wallace recently joined the University of Richmond as director of business development in the Office of Alumni and Career Services. Wallace manages recruiting relationships with employers and leads a comprehensive strategic employer development and stewardship plan. She also serves as a key leader in setting metrics for outcomes, program assessment, documentation and evaluation. Prior to joining Richmond, Wallace was assistant director of career development at Wake Forest University School of Business. She previously was an associate with Booz Allen Hamilton and the account director of member services for Corporate Executive Board. Wallace earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer information systems, from James Madison University and a master’s degree in education and human development with a concentration in student affairs from George Washington University.

The Children’s Museum of Richmond recently hired Liz Pearce as the organization’s first director of parent engagement, part of a new initiative at the museum. CMoR is one of only a few in the country to expand its mission to include education for parents and caregivers. Pearce has worked in the areas of parent education and support for 21 years, most recently as director of Commonwealth Parenting from 2004 to 2011. In February, she will be named president of the National Parent Education Network. The initiative includes plans to provide parents with a wide array of resources to address various issues families may encounter. The vision is for the museum to be a central hub of information for parents and caregivers, in addition to its primary purpose of providing a creative environment where children learn through play. Resources for parents will range from information on age-related expectations and concerns, to parenting support for those experiencing difficulties, to in-the-moment advice about a particular behavior. Don Kaiserman, of Henrico, recently was elected president of the 18-Virginia Council of Chapters (VCOC) Military Officers Association of America (MOAA). The swearing-in ceremony was performed by Admiral Norb Ryan, president of MOAA, the largest national organization of military officers. Kaiserman had served a two-year term as president of the Richmond chapter and currently serves as VCOC first vice president and legislative officer on state and national issues of interest to uniformed officers, their family members and surviving spouses in the Commonwealth.
