Lewis Ginter offering free admission July 4

Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden is again offering free admission July 4 as part of its All-American Celebration. Now in its third year, past history has seen an especially diverse group of visitors on this day with attendance ranging from 3,000-5,000 guests.

Guests on the fourth will be able to visit the garden’s Butterflies Live exhibit and participate in children’s activities. The Happy Lucky Combo will perform live music from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Children’s Garden. At 2 p.m. guests are invited to decorate themselves, strollers and wagons in red, white and blue and parade around the Children’s Garden.

Other attractions include the WaterPlay area, ice cream (available for purchase) and Ms. Wheelchair Virginia Stephanie Copeland, who will make an appearance in the Children’s Garden.

The garden is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and is located at 1800 Lakeside Ave. For details, visit http://www.lewisginter.org.

Toastmasters District 66 invites corporate executives to a morning of education about Toastmasters International and a presentation by Cathy Lewis, host of Hampton Roads’ public radio program “Hearsay” on WHRV-FM. Lewis will speak on “Leadership Language in an Uncivil World” and she will share her mission to convince businesses that they have the capacity and the obligation to help change the contentious conversational landscape in America today.
