Help CVFB win 30,000 pounds of protein

From now until Sept. 30, area residents have a chance to help the Central Virginia Food Bank receive 30,000 pounds of protein.

To boost hunger awareness in the U.S., Tyson Foods is launching a social media campaign enabling the public to choose three food banks to receive a 30,000-pound protein donation from the company. The donation will provide 120,000 meals for each chosen food bank. All food banks are located in counties with high rates of food insecurity.

Facebook poll participants can cast their votes for food banks in Richmond, Va.; Columbus, Ga.; Elizabeth City, N.C.; Monroe, La.; Charleston, S.C.; Memphis, Tenn.; Jackson, Miss.; Montgomery, Ala.; Valdosta, Ga.; and Yuma, Az. Voting continues until Sept. 30, the end of Hunger Action Month.
