Children in the Chickahominy Family YMCA’s afterschool program gave a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to Shelby Walker, a store associate at the JC Penney at the Shops at White Oak Village, last month. Walker is credited with having the highest participation rate – 99 percent – of all associates in JC Penney’s back-to-school “Pennies from heaven” campaign, through which store associates ask customers to round up their purchase total to the next whole dollar, with proceeds going to the company’s afterschool fund.
