HCPA accepting applications for fall academy

The Henrico Citizens Police Academy is now accepting applications for its 38th academy set to begin in September. Classes will be held Mondays, Sept. 10 through Nov. 5, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

At the Citizens Police Academy students will learn about the Division’s mission and community policing philosophy, law enforcement operations, the criminal justice system, crime prevention and crime trends and how they affect the community. Alumni serve as a support base for the Division of Police through education, training and volunteer participation and act as liaisons between the Division and the citizens of Henrico County.

Henrico County’s annual Harvest Festival will take place from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Meadow Farm, 3400 Mountain Rd. The festival will feature many hands-on activities and demonstrations depicting typical homemaking and farming tasks of the era including candle dipping, apple pressing, scarecrow making, pumpkin decorating and more. There will also be a farmer’s market, live music and concessions available for purchase. Admission is free.
