‘Gimme 5’ at Glen Allen H.S. to benefit CATS Foundation

Students from Glen Allen High School will attempt to set the Guinness Book of World Records record for the most simultaneous high-fives on Saturday, May 12 at 1 p.m.

Prior to the attempt, a yard sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Individuals can purchase space for $10. Tables will not be provided. There will also be entertainment, a Jaguar car display and activities and games such as a football toss, cornhole, prize wheel, home run derby and more.

Admission to the yard sale is free. The cost to participate in the world record attempt is a $5 donation to the CATS Foundation. A $15 “Gimme 5” ticket will include a donation, as well as a meal from Nader’s and five activity tickets. The CATS Foundation is a collaborative organization made up of the Hermitage Panthers, Glen Allen Jaguars and Tucker Tigers. Students from the three schools will build a house starting in June 2013 and donate it to a needy Henrico family.

Whale of a treat

Ironfish delights with a variety of tasty catches

I was overjoyed to head back for another meal at Ironfish by Pescados, considered the Best New Restaurant in 2011 by both the Richmond Times Dispatch and Richmond Magazine. I agree whole-heartedly with their ratings. Since I first visited the restaurant for my birthday in January, I was waiting for the perfect special occasion to return. I couldn’t wait another year, obviously.

Run by the same restaurateurs as Pescados Latin Caribbean Seafood in Midlothian and Eat in Oregon Hill, Ironfish offers the same unique dishes and top-level customer service. > Read more.
