‘Gimme 5’ at Glen Allen H.S. to benefit CATS Foundation

Students from Glen Allen High School will attempt to set the Guinness Book of World Records record for the most simultaneous high-fives on Saturday, May 12 at 1 p.m.
Prior to the attempt, a yard sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Individuals can purchase space for $10. Tables will not be provided. There will also be entertainment, a Jaguar car display and activities and games such as a football toss, cornhole, prize wheel, home run derby and more. Admission to the yard sale is free. The cost to participate in the world record attempt is a $5 donation to the CATS Foundation. A $15 “Gimme 5” ticket will include a donation, as well as a meal from Nader’s and five activity tickets. The CATS Foundation is a collaborative organization made up of the Hermitage Panthers, Glen Allen Jaguars and Tucker Tigers. Henrico Junior 4-H camp registration open

For parents looking to keep their kids outside and away from the video games this summer, the Virginia Cooperative Extension is still accepting registrations for the 2013 Henrico Junior 4-H Camp.
The camp will be held June 17-23, and is open to boys and girls ages 9-13. A total of 10 spaces for boys and 27 spaces for girls remain available, and registration is open until May 24. The cost is $230, which includes lodging, meals, programs, instructional materials and charter bus transportation. > Read more.

Veteran restaurateur set to open in Short Pump
Tran’s Pho 1 Grill will serve Vietnamese fare

Paul Tran, along with his wife Ellen will open up Pho 1 Grill, a Vietnamese restaurant, in June in the Towne Center West Shopping Center.
Tran has been serving up Vietnamese food since the mid-’80s, his first being Que Huong on Rigsby Road. He also owned Mr. Chan’s on Horsepen Road and Saigon Gourmet on Hull Street Road. > Read more.
