Citizen Staff Reports 07/09/12
A consortium of St. Paul’s Baptist Church, Virginia State University Co-op Extension and the ACE Program is now offering fresh produce for sale Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The garden is located on a four-acre plot directly behind St. Paul’s at 4247 Creighton Rd.
All produce is organic and picked daily. Offerings include okra, tomatoes, squash, cucumbers and bell peppers, as well as fresh cut flowers. Watermelon and cantaloupes will be available soon. Proceeds benefit ACE - Another Chance to Excel. The ACE Program helps ex-offenders and disadvantaged, at-risk young adults with the educational, vocational, social and life skills they need to successfully transition back into the community, secure gainful employment and become economically self-sufficient.
