Filipino Festival returns Aug. 12-13

The sixth-annual Filipino Festival will be held Aug. 12-13 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 8200 Woodman Road in Henrico.
The event, designed to celebrate Filipino culture, is expected to attract nearly 10,000 visitors this year. It is sponsored by the church, and all proceeds benefit local charities sponsored by the church, including Lamb’s Basket, Laura’s Closet and the OLL Food Pantry. Admission is free. Attendees will be able to sample Filipino cuisine, entertainment and a cultural program that will include traditional dances and exhibitions. More than 40 vendors will display authentic Filipino crafts and clothing and for sale, and live bands and entertainment will be on display both nights, with traditional folk dances and Filipino music performed Saturday night. The Filipino Festival will run from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 12 and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 13.
