Civil War Living History Day planned for Saturday

Join the County of Henrico Division of Recreation and Parks for the Civil War Living History Day. This free family event will be held on Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Dabbs House Museum, 3812 Nine Mile Road in Henrico.
Explore life during the Civil War for men, women and children whether they were at home, in camp or on the battlefield. Re-enactors will set up Civil War style encampments, soldier drilling and firing displays. Other domestic Civil War chores and activities will also be highlighted. Throughout the day, scheduled presentations will be shared on different aspects of the Civil War ranging from the lives of individual generals to the service of African-American Soldiers to the definition of patriotism during the Civil War. Children will be able to participate in several “period” games, crafts and more. Tours of Dabbs House Museum will be available free of charge. Concessions will be available for purchase. Henrico Junior 4-H camp registration open

For parents looking to keep their kids outside and away from the video games this summer, the Virginia Cooperative Extension is still accepting registrations for the 2013 Henrico Junior 4-H Camp.
The camp will be held June 17-23, and is open to boys and girls ages 9-13. A total of 10 spaces for boys and 27 spaces for girls remain available, and registration is open until May 24. The cost is $230, which includes lodging, meals, programs, instructional materials and charter bus transportation. > Read more.
