Civil War Living History Day planned for Saturday

Join the County of Henrico Division of Recreation and Parks for the Civil War Living History Day. This free family event will be held on Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Dabbs House Museum, 3812 Nine Mile Road in Henrico.

Explore life during the Civil War for men, women and children whether they were at home, in camp or on the battlefield. Re-enactors will set up Civil War style encampments, soldier drilling and firing displays. Other domestic Civil War chores and activities will also be highlighted.

Throughout the day, scheduled presentations will be shared on different aspects of the Civil War ranging from the lives of individual generals to the service of African-American Soldiers to the definition of patriotism during the Civil War. Children will be able to participate in several “period” games, crafts and more.

Popular Short Pump spot offers upscale comfort, flavors
The Wine Loft opened in West Broad Village in January 2010, offering a full bar with wine, beer, spirits and a kitchen with tapas-style snacks. It offers a seasonal patio area along Whittall Way. Its walk-in wine “humidor” in plain view from the bar offers more than 85 wines by the glass ($6-$65) and about 250 by the bottle ($28 and up), with some emphasis on Italian wines.
