Christmas mother receives donations from Martin’s

Short Pump Martin’s Store Manager Beth Davis (at right) presents two checks to Henrico Christmas Mother Dorothy Tatem totaling $19,625 last month. The donations included a $5,000 gift from Martin’s and contributions of $14,625 from Martin’s customers.

The Henrico Christmas Mother program assisted more than 1,900 families last month, providing gifts, toys, clothes and other items to families, children and adults in need.

The Martin’s donations put the program over the $100,000 donation level for the year.

Martin’s also sold discounted gift cards to the Christmas Mother program, which then distributed them to program participants.

The READ Center will hold new tutor training to become an Adult Literacy Tutor from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Ginter Park Library, 1200 Westbrook Ave. If you can read this, you can help someone who can’t.
