Capping the season in tune

The "Knitters of Cedarfield" made their annual donation of knitted caps to the Henrico Christmas Mother Dec. 5 at The Hermitage at Cedarfield, presenting 110 caps to be used by needy families.

Among the Christmas Mothers on hand to thank the knitters were Mitty Sledd (1975) and Robin Smith (2009). The gift presentation was followed by a program of holiday music, performed by members of the Greater Richmond Chorus, who chose Cedarfield resident Russell Johnston as the impromptu subject of their affections during a "Santa Baby" number. Another Cedarfield resident, Charlotte McCutcheon, sold additional knitted caps and annually donates all proceeds to the
Henrico Christmas Mother and the Central Va. Food Bank.

The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen, in partnership with the Latin Ballet of Virginia, will present the Day of the Dead / El Día de los Muertos Festival from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. This festive celebration of life will feature live performances by the Latin Ballet and the Richmond Ballet’s Minds in Motion Ambassadors, as well as dancing, music, sweets, treats and art activities. Mercado Muertos, a mini-shop featuring an array of themed gifts and art to celebrate the spirit of the dead, will have items for sale with most priced at $20 and under. Costumes are encouraged.
