Art ‘ReFined’ in Lakeside

Local artist Kris Taylor (above) was among the visitors at a March 31 open house held at the relocated women's consignment shop ReFinery, formerly of the Bellevue area and now in Lakeside. Among the artist's oil paintings and framed etchings now on display at the shop is this favorite, "Second Sighting of the Sacred White Cow," which was inspired by a field full of cows that Taylor spotted while driving through the Colorado countryside near Ute Mountain. Taylor's work will be on display through May at ReFinery, located at 5402 Lakeside Avenue.

The Barton Malow Foundation, Richmond Flying Squirrels Charities and RIR Cares will partner for the third annual Rally in the Alley pro-celebrity bowling event to benefit RVA Field of Dreams Fest at the Richmond Raceway Complex. Rally in the Alley will comprise of eight teams bowling two rounds with 15-minute breaks in between. Each team will have a NASCAR celebrity, Flying Squirrel or local Richmond personality, a PWBA pro bowler, and two other members. Proceeds from Rally in the Alley will go to the initiative of “Renovating Richmond’s Recreation.” Doors open at 5 p.m. VIP tickets are $100; general admission is $25.
