Antique cars coming to Lakeside

The Richmond Region Antique Automobile Club of America will host its 2012 Reliability Tour with stops throughout the region – including one in Lakeside – at the end of this month.

The club is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year and its tour, Aug. 27-31, will feature antique automobiles built in 1915 and years prior. It will stop Aug. 28 at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden.

The tour will visit several Civil War sites Aug. 27, along with Hanover Tavern and Hanover Courthouse. The following day, in addition to the Lewis Ginter visit, the group will travel to the Museum District in Richmond to explore the Virginia Historical Society Museum, which features the Richmond-built Kline Kar (pictured above).

On Aug. 29, the club will visit western Hanover County, including Scotchtown, the Beaver Dam Railroad Depot and Ashland. The following day of the tour will take participants to Berkeley Plantation, and the event will conclude Aug. 31 with a visit to the Tuckahoe Plantation and the home of Cindi and Reggie Nash.
