Annual Glen Allen Day planned Sept. 15

The Glen Allen Ruritan Club, in association with the County of Henrico Division of Recreation and Parks, will host the 16th annual Glen Allen Day from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15 at Meadow Farm Museum/Crump Park.

The festivities will kick-off with a parade beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of John Cussons Road and Mountain Road and continuing to Meadow Farm. Children’s activities will include Miss Sheri the Clown, arts and crafts, a petting zoo, inflatables, a game truck and more. There will also be vendors, a custom and classic car show and live entertainment on two stages. Food for purchase includes BBQ, hamburgers, hot dogs, Mexican, ice cream and more.

CharacterWorks, an after-school youth theater program, will present “James and the Giant Peach Jr.” May 25-28 at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. Based on one of Roald Dahl’s most fantastic stories, “James and the Giant Peach Jr.” is a brand-new take on this “masterpeach” of a tale. When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that grows a tremendous peach which promptly rolls into the ocean and launches him on a journey of enormous proportions.
