All Henrico Reads book discussions start Thursday

Garth Stein, author of “The Art of Racing in the Rain,” has been selected as the 2012 author for All Henrico Reads.

Book discussions for “The Art of Racing in the Rain” will be held at several libraries: Tuckahoe, 1901 Starling Dr. – March 8 at 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; Fairfield, 1001 N. Laburnum Ave. – March 12 at 2 p.m.; Varina, 2001 Library Rd. – March 13 at 3 p.m.; Twin Hickory, 5001 Twin Hickory Rd. – March 14 at 1 p.m.; Dumbarton, 6800 Staples Mill Rd. – March 20 at 7 p.m.; and Sandston, 23 E. Williamsburg Rd. – April 9 at 7 p.m.

Stein will discuss the book and sign copies at the AHR main event on Thursday, April 5 at 7 p.m. at Glen Allen High School. The book tells the story of race car driver Denny Swift and his dog, Enzo. Enzo, a philosopher with a nearly human soul, has gained tremendous insight into the human condition by watching television and listening very closely to the words of his master. Enzo sees that life, like racing, isn’t simply about going fast; using the techniques needed on the race track, one can successfully navigate all of life’s ordeals.
