Weekend holiday shoppers at several Henrico shopping malls are under the watchful eyes of ACT NOW (Awareness of Crime Today-Neighbors on Watch) volunteers, who are assisting police with their holiday crime prevention efforts.
The program is a partnership between Henrico County Neighborhood Watch, the Division of Police, Division of Police volunteers and the malls. It began Nov. 27 and will continue every Friday and Saturday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. until Dec. 18. The volunteers, dressed in maroon vests and equipped with cell phones, patrol participating Henrico mall parking lots and shopping areas. In addition to heightening awareness of holiday crime prevention, ACT NOW volunteers facilitate interest in Henrico County's Neighborhood Watch program and distribute holiday safety flyers and information regarding other Division of Police crime prevention programs. Henrico Junior 4-H camp registration open

For parents looking to keep their kids outside and away from the video games this summer, the Virginia Cooperative Extension is still accepting registrations for the 2013 Henrico Junior 4-H Camp.
The camp will be held June 17-23, and is open to boys and girls ages 9-13. A total of 10 spaces for boys and 27 spaces for girls remain available, and registration is open until May 24. The cost is $230, which includes lodging, meals, programs, instructional materials and charter bus transportation. > Read more.

Veteran restaurateur set to open in Short Pump
Tran’s Pho 1 Grill will serve Vietnamese fare
Paul Tran, along with his wife Ellen will open up Pho 1 Grill, a Vietnamese restaurant, in June in the Towne Center West Shopping Center.
Tran has been serving up Vietnamese food since the mid-’80s, his first being Que Huong on Rigsby Road. He also owned Mr. Chan’s on Horsepen Road and Saigon Gourmet on Hull Street Road. > Read more.
