AAA Mid-Atlantic kicks off annual traffic safety poster and video contest
K-12 students can enter to win
|
Citizen Staff Reports 09/21/11
AAA Mid-Atlantic is seeking creative young people throughout the Commonwealth who want to win prizes while teaching others life-saving traffic safety concepts.
Now through Feb. 14, 2012, students in grades K-12 from all schools across Virginia are invited to participate in AAA’s annual Traffic Safety Poster Contest. Students can showcase their artistic talents and traffic safety knowledge through hand-drawn or digitally-designed posters and video public service announcements (PSA). AAA Mid-Atlantic offers the contest to provide instructors and students with an independently-evaluated forum for their artistic and creative efforts, while encouraging critical thinking and classroom discussion about safety topics. In addition to the contest, AAA has age-appropriate supplemental materials and lesson plans available to instructors and parents to aid in teaching students about topics such as distracted driving, using seatbelts, bicycle safety and other important traffic safety messages. Submissions will be judged on the relationship of the entry design to proper traffic safety practices, originality, creativity and execution, visual impact and relevance of the safety slogan. The deadline to submit entries to AAA Mid-Atlantic is February 14, 2012. Schools, after-care and other youth programs interested in participating in the contest should contact Kharma Finley-Wallace at (202) 481-6820 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). |
