The Craftsmen’s Classic Art & Craft Festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 26, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 27 and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 28. The Richmond Out of the Darkness Community Walk, a fundraising walk supporting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Deep Run Park, 9900 Ridgefield Pkwy. The walk aims to raise money for prevention and awareness and to offer hope to the millions of people that battle depression, bipolar illness, addiction and other mental illness. More than 200 similar walks are being held nationwide through December and are expected to raise more than $7.5 million for suicide prevention efforts. Eastern Henrico FISH will host a benefit concert at 6:30 p.m. at Fort Lee Baptist Church, 2727 Charles City Rd. Churchyard Grass and other local talents will perform. Henrico County will host the grand re-opening of Elko Community Center from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Built in 1924 the center was the meeting place for the Windsor Club of Elko. During World War II the Elko community gained some historical significance when the U.S. military converted part of the Elko Tract into a decoy airfield in an effort to secure Byrd Airport. Team Absolute, a local “modern custom” automotive club, will host the first annual Kids Come First Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the parking lot of Quaker Steak & Lube, 8000 W. Broad St. There will be 60 trophies and specialty awards presented. Registration is $20 in advance and $25 at the gate. Holidays will delay some CVWMA collections


CVWMA curbside recycling collection and trash collections will have a one day delay in collections Dec. 25-26 and Jan. 1-2. There will be no collections on Dec. 25 or Jan. 1.

Curbside recycling collections Monday through Wednesday will be on regular schedule. Red Thursday and Red Friday curbside recyclers will have a one day delay in collection services Dec. 25-26. Blue Thursday and Blue Friday curbside recyclers will have one day delay in collection services Jan. 1-2. Containers should be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on collection day. MADD to host candlelight vigil Dec. 2 at UR

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) will host a candlelight vigil of remembrance and hope Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. at the University of Richmond, outside the Cannon Chapel. The public is invited to attend and join MADD to honor victims of impaired driving crashes, while helping to remind the community to be safe during the holidays. > Read more.
