The Bifocals Players, shows starring actors age 55 and older, will present “No Deposit, No Return” at 2 p.m. at Virginia Rep’s Children’s Theatre at Willow Lawn, 1601 Willow Lawn Dr. The show is written and directed by local playwright Jay Morehouse. The Craftsmen’s Classic Art & Craft Festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 26, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 27 and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 28. The show features original designs and work from hundreds of talented artists and craftspeople from across the nation. The University of Richmond continues its fall International Film Series with “Amador” at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Oct. 26 in Jepson Hall, Room 118, and at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Robins School of Business, Ukrop Auditorium. The Richmond Out of the Darkness Community Walk, a fundraising walk supporting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Deep Run Park, 9900 Ridgefield Pkwy. The walk aims to raise money for prevention and awareness and to offer hope to the millions of people that battle depression, bipolar illness, addiction and other mental illness. More than 200 similar walks are being held nationwide through December and are expected to raise more than $7.5 million for suicide prevention efforts. Eastern Henrico FISH will host a benefit concert at 6:30 p.m. at Fort Lee Baptist Church, 2727 Charles City Rd. Churchyard Grass and other local talents will perform. Henrico County will host the grand re-opening of Elko Community Center from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Built in 1924 the center was the meeting place for the Windsor Club of Elko. During World War II the Elko community gained some historical significance when the U.S. military converted part of the Elko Tract into a decoy airfield in an effort to secure Byrd Airport. Take a tour of the newly renovated facility and listen to the tunes of Churchyard Grass. The center is located at 6216 White Oak Rd. in Sandston. Team Absolute, a local “modern custom” automotive club, will host the first annual Kids Come First Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the parking lot of Quaker Steak & Lube, 8000 W. Broad St. There will be 60 trophies and specialty awards presented. Registration is $20 in advance and $25 at the gate. Entertainment will include a stunt rider, cornhole tournament, live DJ, raffles and more. Funds raised will support the Children’s Hospital Foundation. Admission is free. ‘Proof of Heaven’ coming to Glen Allen


Dr. Even Alexander, a New York Times best-selling author who has been featured on Oprah and Dr. Oz, was in town last week to promote his June 27 talk, "Proof of Heaven," at Glen Allen High School.

Alexander (pictured, at right, while Unity of Bon Air church member Harry Simmons interviews him) has written about what he considers to be his journey through the afterlife.

Innsbrook Rotary celebrates 25 years


The Innsbrook Rotary Club, which is celebrating its 25th year in 2015, has completed a number of volunteer projects this year and raised thousands of dollars for various organizations through three events.

The club's annual rose sale, benefit for youth live auction and Virginia Fire Games competition, combined with individual and corporate donations, have raised nearly $70,000 – money that the club contributes back to the community.

FeedMore is the beneficiary of the club's 25th anniversary project, which provides refrigerated trailers to be used for the distribution of food throughout Central Virginia. > Read more.

Chef Bryan Voltaggio will host a special three-course dinner event July 21-22 at his Willow Lawn Family Meal restaurant. The menu will consist of his favorite dishes and offer diners the chance to purchase a signed copy of his newly released book, HOME.
