New signs installed in Meadowood

Two new signs were installed this week in the Meadowood subdivision, near Henrico High School, marking the community of 1960s-era brick ranchers and tri-level homes.

The signs of gold lettering on a black background feature an oval picture of birds soaring above a meadow and trees – significant because streets in the subdivision are named for birds. The signs were installed at Lark and Richmond-Henrico Turnpike and Sandpiper and Azalea Avenue.

Funding was provided by a grant from Henrico County and from the residents and members of the homeowners association.

The Henrico County Public Library will host New York Times bestselling author Sy Montgomery at 7 p.m. at Glen Allen High School as part of its annual All Henrico Reads program. Her novel and the featured All Henrico Reads title, “The Soul of an Octopus,” explores the emotional and physical worlds of the octopus – a surprisingly complex, intelligent and spirited creature – and the remarkable connections it makes with humans. Books will be available for sale and the author will autograph books following the program. Admission is free and open to the public; no tickets required.
