Thursdaenite Players, a local faith-based theater guild, will perform Sarah Ruhl’s “Eurydice” at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 3-4 at Christ Presbyterian Church, 2508 Dickens Rd. “Eurydice” is a re-telling of the Greek myth of Orpheus’ descent into Hades to rescue his bride. The Simon Kidgits Club at Virginia Center Commons Mall will host a Back to School party from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Say farewell to summer and hello to a great school year by shopping tax free all weekend long. Children will also get a first look at ROXX, the newest collectible head-to-head, competitive game by Imperial Toy.The first 100 Kidgit members will receive a Back to School pack. Admission is free. A special event to celebrate memories of the “old” John Marshall High School, formerly located in Richmond at Eight and Marshall Streets, will take place from noon to 6 p.m. at Richmond Raceway Complex, 600 E. Laburnum Ave. All who lived the experience of JM from 1909-1960 are invited to participate in the gathering which is sponsored by The Friends of Old Jayem. Popular Short Pump spot offers upscale comfort, flavors
The Wine Loft opened in West Broad Village in January 2010, offering a full bar with wine, beer, spirits and a kitchen with tapas-style snacks. It offers a seasonal patio area along Whittall Way. Its walk-in wine “humidor” in plain view from the bar offers more than 85 wines by the glass ($6-$65) and about 250 by the bottle ($28 and up), with some emphasis on Italian wines.
