The Modlin Center for the Arts will present Compagnia T.P.O.’s “Farfalle” at 7:30 p.m. May 11 and at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. May 12 in Cousins Studio Theatre at the University of Richmond. The technological centerpiece of “Farfalle” (Butterflies) is the CCC or “children’s cheering carpet,” a special sensor-covered mat, which interacts with dancers and the audience in real, enchanted time. The Ultimate Recycling Sale will take place from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Millhiser Gymnasium at the University of Richmond. The sale features reusable student discards including small refrigerators, microwaves, electronics, furniture, clothing, shoes, housewares, kitchen items, holiday décor, office supplies, books, linens and more. The 34th annual Virginia Senior Games will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hermitage High School, 8301 Hungary Springs Rd. Watch senior athletes compete in basketball, track and field and more. The County of Henrico Division of Recreation and Parks will host KidFest, a day in the park that’s tailored just for kids, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Deep Run Park, 9900 Ridgefield Pkwy. The Henrico County Division of Police will hold a rabies clinic for dogs and cats from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Richmond International Raceway, 600 E. Laburnum Ave. Vaccination shots cost $10 and must be paid in cash. A rabies tag and certificate of inoculation are included. Dog licenses will also be available. Pets from all localities are welcome. The Rink to open at WBV Nov. 14

The grand opening of The Rink outdoor ice skating rink at West Broad Village will be held Saturday, Nov. 14, beginning at 11 a.m. with skating and family activities. At 4 p.m., grand opening festivities – featuring exhibitions of ice sculpting, ice skating and cheering, as well as fire pits, costumed characters, and food vendors – will begin. Virginia Christmas tree guide now available

Looking for a Virginia-grown Christmas tree this year? You can find a list of all locations that offer trees in the 2015 Virginia Grown Christmas Tree Guide, published by the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) in cooperation with the Virginia Christmas Tree Growers Association. The guide is designed as a resource for finding choose-and-cut, fresh-cut and live Christmas trees across the state. Complimentary copies are available through tourist information centers, libraries and Virginia Cooperative Extension offices.
