JANUARY 20
Barksdale Theatre will present “Always…Patsy Cline” through April 29 at Hanover Tavern, 13181 Hanover Courthouse Rd. The show is a tribute to legendary country singer Patsy Cline who died at age 30 in a plane crash in 1963. It includes many of Cline’s hits such as “Crazy,” “I Fall to Pieces,” “Sweet Dreams” and “Walking After Midnight.” The show is part of the 2012 Acts of Faith Festival. A river-themed indoor art walk titled “Winter to Spring” will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Crossroads Art Center, 2016 Staples Mill Rd. The exhibit displays original art by James River Art League members including oils, acrylics, pastels, watercolors and mixed media. River-related art will be offered for sale and members of the Friends of the James River Park will be available with information about FOJRP. Admission is free. St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 12291 River Rd., will present “To Whom It May Concern” at 7 p.m. Jan. 20-21 and at 2 p.m. Jan. 22. The musical is a warm and witty observation of what really goes on in the hearts and minds of people as they participate in a church service. Youth ages 8-12 are invited to Snowflakes, Kites and S’mores from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Dorey Recreation Center, 2999 Darbytown Rd. Visitors to Henricus Historical Park, 251 Henricus Park Rd., are invited to participate in the Battle of Trent’s Reach Civil War Tour aboard the “Discovery Barge II,” a covered 24-pontoon boat captained by Mike Ostrander of Discover the James. Tours will take place at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. The excursion will feature local wildlife and 17th-century through modern day history at Henricus and Dutch Gap. Henrico CASA and Susan's Selections are partnering to present an online auction beginning Sept 12. Proceeds will benefit Henrico CASA. Any item with a $50 or more resale value – from pottery to furniture and everything in between – can be donated.

10th annual Filipino Festival coming in August


The 10th Annual Filipino Festival will be held Aug. 7-8 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 8200 Woodman Rd., beginning with opening ceremonies at 5 p.m. Friday and continuing with live entertainment, food and exhibits until 10 p.m. On Saturday the festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. with a full schedule of performances featuring traditional Filipino dance, music and song.

Filipino cuisine, including BBQ, pansit, lumpia, adobo, halo-halo, lechon, empanada and leche flan, will be available for purchase. The festival will also feature a children's area, church tours, exhibits, and health screenings. > Read more.

ZZ Top, The Beach Boys, O.A.R., others to play Innsbrook


Innsbrook After Hours will welcome ZZ Top, The Beach Boys, O.A.R. and other performers this month.

On Aug. 12, Tyler Farr, with special guest Parmalee, will perform at 6 p.m., with gates opening at 5 p.m. Farr began his career with years of formal voice training with the OAKE National Choir but at 21, he moved to Nashville. Tickets are $15 to $99.
