National Night Out events planned tonight

Tonight, neighborhoods throughout Henrico County are joining forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the "28th Annual National Night Out" crime prevention event.

National Night Out is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, along with Henrico County Police and TARGET - the national corporate sponsor. Henrico County Police has 96 events registered throughout the county. A list of Henrico's National Night Out neighborhood events is available on the Neighborhood Watch web page that is accessible from the Henrico County Police web site at http://www.henricopolice.org.

It is anticipated that more than 37 million people from over 15,000 communities from all 50 states will participate in this year's event. Residents are encouraged to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police. Many neighborhoods throughout Henrico will be hosting special events such as block parties, cookouts, flashlight walks and youth activities.
