The April edition of Henrico Restaurant Week raised $2,050 for the Virginia Home for Boys and Girls' 2016 Youth Triathlon, which will be held Aug. 20.

Henrico County Public Schools, through its Division of School Nutrition Services, will participate in the 2016 Summer Food Service Program administered by the US Department of Agriculture. The program provides meals to students enrolled in Henrico Schools summer programs or in those run by the Henrico County Department of Recreation and Parks.

The following Hampton by Hilton hotels in Henrico have received a 2016 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence Award: Hampton Inn Richmond-West, located in Innsbrook at 10800 W. Broad St.; and Hampton Inn Richmond-Airport, located at 421 International Center Drive in Sandston. Now in its sixth year, the achievement celebrates hospitality businesses that have earned great traveler reviews on the online TripAdvisor site over the past year. To qualify, a business must maintain an overall TripAdvisor bubble rating of at least four out of five, have a minimum number of reviews and must have been listed on TripAdvisor for at least 12 months. > Read more.

Cabela’s this week announced plans to celebrate the official grand opening of its new Short Pump store on Wednesday, April 6, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by a weekend-long celebration featuring giveaways, family activities and guest appearances.

Three Henrico hotels earned recognition as recipients of "Four Diamond" designation by AAA Mid-Atlantic, the organization announced earlier this week. The Wyndham Virginia Crossings Hotel and Conference Center in Glen Allen; the Hilton Richmond Hotel and Spa in Short Pump; and The Westin Richmond in the Near West End were among 22 properties statewide to earn the designation. The Inn at Little Washington in Washington, Va. was the only property to earn a Five Diamond designation.
Each of the three Henrico hotels was a repeat Four Diamond recipient. The Wyndham has earned the status every year since 2004, while The Westin earned its status for the first time in 2009 and the Hilton in 2010. > Read more.

Henrico County Recreation and Parks will present “Red, White, and Lights” at Meadow Farm Museum/Crump Park July 4.
Henrico County has hosted a Fourth of July celebration annually since 1981, but this year’s event will offer a later start time and expanded hours and be highlighted by new entertainment.

The Tuckahoe Family YMCA and ReEstablish Richmond will host the third-annual Refugee Community Resource Fair Saturday, June 18, from 10 a.m. to noon at the YMCA, 9211 Patterson Avenue in Henrico. The event is designed to provide refugees in the region information about jobs, local businesses, housing, health care, education and more.
