Step UP for Down Syndrome 5K & Family Festival planned at ACCA Shrine Center

Description: The Step UP for Down Syndrome 5K & Family Festival will take place rain or shine at the ACCA Shrine Center, 1712 Bellevue Ave. The 5K run starts at 8:30 a.m. and the course will go through Bryan Park. There will also be free family entertainment, the Superstars Fashion Show, live music from Betsy Lynne and the Boys, sponsor and exhibitor displays, children’s activities, the Great DSAGR Pumpkin Patch and more. International super model Madeline Stuart, who has appeared in such publications as Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Woman’s Day, Elle and Marie Claire, will be the special guest. 8th annual Richmond Out of the Darkness Community Walk planned at Deep Run Park

Description: The 8th annual Richmond Out of the Darkness Community Walk will take place rain or shine at Deep Run Park at 9 a.m. The walk route is just short of three miles. The opening ceremony will take place in the field beside the lake. An after-walk family picnic will be held until 1 p.m. Friendly, leashed dogs are welcome. Proceeds benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, which aims to reduce the annual suicide rate 20% by 2025. Walk-up registration is available. The Main Stage will feature presentations by national and local experts and the Taste of Virginia marketplace and Beer Garden will offer samples.
