Lewis Ginter to offer the themed walk “Seeing the Garden Like a Honeybee”

Description: Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden will offer the themed walk “Seeing the Garden Like a Honeybee” from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The Garden Guide will introduce you to some of the most popular honey bee plants and end your tour where the bees do at the Apiary (bee hives) installed in 2016. Gain a whole new understanding of pollination and how a home gardener can help provide honey bees with better nutrition. Cost is $17 for nonmembers; free for members. Description: Virginia Repertory Theatre will present a musical retelling of the beloved American story “The Little Engine That Could” July 7-30 at The Children’s Theatre at Willow Lawn. The classic family tale of determination and perseverance is reimagined through the heartwarming relationship between a young girl and her grandfather. Description: Gallmeyer Farms will host its 5th annual Sweet Corn & Watermelon Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Pumpkin Patch, 4506 Millers Ln. There will be live music, a bounce house, hay rides, pony rides, a Kountry Kids Puddle, craft vendors, local businesses and more. Sweet corn roasted on fire pits, as well as other fresh summer vegetables and watermelon, will be available for purchase. Admission and parking are free. Coolers, chairs and picnics welcome. No pets. Description: The Plants of the James River Project will present “The Art of Invasion,” a family-friendly event from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the James River Park System headquarters. Learn about invasive versus native plants; participate in guided walks and art activities; and make leaf rubbings and paper from invasive weeds. The headquarters building is located at the Reedy Creek Canoe Access, 4001 Riverside Dr. Park and walk through the Reedy Creek parking area. Cross the railroad tracks, turn right, and continue to the HQ building on your left. Sponsored by Richmond Tree Stewards, the James River Park System, VCU Life Sciences, the Virginia Native Plant Society, Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens and others.

Description: The Henrico Theatre Company will present the romantic comedy “She Loves Me” July 7-23 at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. Georg and Amalia are two feuding clerks in a European parfumerie during the 1930s who secretly find solace in their anonymous pen pals, little knowing their respective correspondents are none other than each other.
