Museum District Association to host annual Mother’s Day House & Garden Tour

Description: The Museum District Association’s 23rd annual Mother’s Day House & Garden Tour will take place from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The tour provides a rare opportunity for guests to go inside some of Richmond’s most beautiful and historic homes, gardens and institutions. The hospitality center is located at the Virginia Historical Society. A tour trolley will run continuously between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tour proceeds benefit non-profit agencies in the Richmond area and help protect and beautify this historic neighborhood. Description: Jewish Family Theatre will present “Bad Jews” at 7:30 p.m. May 10-11 and at 2 p.m. May 14 at the Weinstein Jewish Community Center, 5403 Monument Ave. This production, directed by Debra Clinton, has strong language and is recommended for an adult audience. Description: The Henrico Theatre Company will present “The Cemetery Club” May 5-21 at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. This comedy by Ivan Menchell is about three Jewish widows who meet once a month for tea before going to visit their husbands’ graves. All performances are at 8 p.m. except for Sunday matinees which are at 2:30 p.m. Reservations are recommended. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors (55+) and students. The READ Center will hold a Volunteer Orientation from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Oct. 2 and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 4. The Center's mission is to help adults with low-level literacy develop reading and communication skills so they can fulfill their roles as citizens, workers and family members, and improve their quality of life. The Center provides classes and one-to-one tutoring and there is an ongoing need for volunteers willing to tutor students in reading, writing, basic math and digital skills.
