Lavender Fields Herb Farm’s annual Spring Herb Faire planned May 5-6, 12-13

Description: Lavender Fields Herb Farm’s annual Spring Herb Faire will take place over two weekends, May 5-6 and May 12-13, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Shop from over 200 varieties of certified organic herb and veggie plants. There will be free tours, demonstrations and classes on topics such as raised bed gardening, cooking with herbs and vegetables, and container gardening. Both Saturdays will feature free face painting and a children’s planting activity. The Glen Allen Ruritan Club will also be selling hamburgers, hot dogs, chili and slaw on both Saturdays. Description: The Henrico Theatre Company will present “The Cemetery Club” May 5-21 at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. This comedy by Ivan Menchell is about three Jewish widows who meet once a month for tea before going to visit their husbands’ graves. All performances are at 8 p.m. except for Sunday matinees which are at 2:30 p.m. Reservations are recommended. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors (55+) and students. Description: Boy Named Banjo will perform at 8 p.m. at The Tin Pan, 8982 Quioccasin Rd. Born and raised in Nashville, Tenn., the original three of Boy Named Banjo consists of members Barton Davies, William Reames and Willard Logan, all of whom share a love for songwriting, performing and roots music. Since the band's first full-length release in May 2012, “The Tanglewood Sessions,” Boy Named Banjo has added two members: Sam McCullough (drums) and Abe Scott (bass). “Rise Up Strong: Be Healthy” is a multi-generational event taking place July 7-9 at Gayton Kirk Presbyterian Church, 11421 Gayton Rd. Events for all ages start at 5 p.m. July 7 with a cookout followed by a circle dance and vespers. July 8 activities include yoga, art for relaxation and a nature walk. The culminating event will be the packaging of meals for Rise Against Hunger (formerly Stop World Hunger) at 5 p.m. July 9. The church hopes to pack 20,000 meals for school children across the world.
